Had to search for this after seeing your note of your beautiful desktop view! I love it!
“consider how a scent makes you feel. does it align with how you’d like to feel for the next year? what this age feels like? who you’d like to be?” resonated with me
I started to gain more independence recently and I bought Nishane (the scent to mark an unfamiliar beginning). But it really does feel unfamiliar. I want something that feels more me. But I have no idea where to start from. Do you have any suggestions
thank you so much for reading! <3 if you want a scent that feels more like you, i would compare the notes of maybe your top 3 fave scents and snoop around for scents with a good mix of similar notes, in addition to ones you’re not as familiar with, to bring in that “new beginning" element. there’s also nothing like going out and sniffing perfumes at local beauty shops IRL. the scents you may gravitate toward can totally surprise you! i’d loveeee to hear what you end up going with x
Loveeee this!!! I usually buy a new perfume when I travel somewhere new so that every time I smell it I’m instantly transported back to that place. I love the idea of purchasing a new one for your birthday and using it as a way to set an intention for the year!
I've been on a perfume deep dive recently, and I really enjoyed your thoughts here! I also totally relate to the fixation with having a singular signature scent, but not being able to figure it out :D
I recently got a Byredo discovery set and I’m deciding between a full size Bibliothèque or Bal D’Afrique for that purpose… I also like Cheirosa 71 as my daily fall scent rn— the nutty note feels so cozy.
Would love to know what your signature scent of the moment is too!
I was gifted a scent that I didn't want to splurge on but was completely enamored with by a family member this year. Every time I spray it on after freshly taking a shower, I feel like another woman - like what I would imagine my higher self to be like. Scents are truly transformative, and I'm glad you wrote about it!
A little off topic: am I the only one who finds maison margiela, byredo and a couple others extremely overrated? I can pin point exactly one fragrance out of each brand that I truly like so I don’t really get the hype (or the price). Other than that, I’ve spoilt myself with perfume and I love it! I tend to get very nostalgic with certain smells and a nice perfume does just that for me 🫶🏼
you know what, i totally hear that! i do love those brands—but i personally find that the fragrances i love most from them are rarely their most popular scents. i often have to stray from their buzziest offerings to find the ones i like best. thank you for reading! <3

I’m a huge tonka fan too :) I also tried vanille antique the other day and it was lovely!

i also totally love perfume, right now i’m DYING to purchase whisky by thin wild mercury. if i had a signature scent, that’d be it.
