these sticky, warm-weather months were made for exposing our shoulders, baring our legs, and showing skin that glows like gold. but achieving such a complexion doesn’t occur magically overnight as the seasons flip from spring to summer. no!
establishing a glow-inducing body care routine is très nécessaire.
being from the islands, i take pride in curating a skincare regimen each summer that delivers the most ethereal, sun-drenched, lit-from-within-looking skin possible. from body scrubs and washes to body butters and oils, here’s the leonine brief on siren skin:
dry brushes
both sensorial and effective, incorporate the act of dry brushing into your daily body care routine to promote lymphatic drainage, improve circulation, and slough off dead skin cells.
body washes

some summer showers call for more of a clarifying cleanser, like the dealbodies body wash created by my very own sissy<3 and others for radiance-boosting, oil-infused body washes like those pictured above from l’occitane, oribe (the côte d’azur scent is everything) and glossier. if you don’t like wearing lotions or body butters during the summertime, these will leave your skin glowing without the need to slather on an additional product post-shower.
funky razors
sure, lasers and wax can spare you time and effort, but i still believe in having a trusty razor on deck. romanticize your everything showers (as much as one can romanticize manual hair removal) by shopping playful summer colours like these. truly, athena club and billie are the best razor brands i’ve used thus far. i swear by them both!
body scrubs
for your smoothest, most polished skin, work a gently exfoliating body scrub into your routine every couple of days. with plenty options to choose from, i’m a big fan of lush’s classic scrub offerings. this sea salt-scented one is bang on theme for summer, and reminds me of 2006’s mermaid film, aquamarine.
body butters
winter, spring, summer or fall, i *never* leave my bathroom after showering without putting body butter on. what i love most about these picks in particular is that, in addition to making your skin feel baby-soft, they each impart a gloss-like sheen that looks naturally luminous. not to mention, they smell scrumptious.
body oils

the holy grail product of this siren skin routine? a glossy body oil. there is not one summer that goes by where i’m not lathered in oil. for glitter-flecked, ethereal skin that glistens (think: edward cullen’s sparkling complexion, but better), try fenty beauty’s relaunched body luminizer or tom ford’s beloved soleil blanc shimmering body oil. if you want the glow sans the glitter, chanel’s limited-edition body no. 5 body oil is fabulous.
